"Our Mission is to promote quilting education through speakers and workshops; to support our community through charity; and to encourage friendships and fellowship among our members."
Education is a key goal. We want to not only continuously develop skills and techniques of our members, but also to help those not currently quilting learn the joy it brings. Some key programs and events include:
Speakers and their Workshops
Our General Meetings feature nationally recognized quilters. Most speakers also conduct Friday and Saturday workshops. They share the techniques and designs that have brought them fame. These workshops allow our members to develop skills and explore new types of quilting at significantly reduced cost compared to the speaker's public offerings.
Once a year, CCQ sponsors a Saturday full of workshops taught by members for members. It's a chance to expand skills while socializing with other members at an incrediblly low price. Topics are recommended by guild members and/or volunteer instructors.
Quiltfest Northwest - Clark County Quilters Annual Quilt and Fiber Arts Show
2109 Blues and Lights: Quilters' Delight was the 44th annual quilt show. Each year the show improves with gorgeous quilts, outstanding vendors in the vendor mall, great workshops and demonstrations, fun activities and special events. It truely is becoming a "destination" show with many putting it on their "must see" list.
The 2020 show theme is Polka Dots & Spots. It is April 9-11, 2020 at the Clark County Event Center. For more information and highlights of prior shows visit quiltfestnw.org or just click on the logo to the right.
Featured Artist Show
In October we celebrate one or more of our members by showcasing their work. This very special show opens Friday at 3:00 pm. That evening features an artist’s reception starting at 5:00 pm. The show continues through the weekend until 4:00 pm Sunday. The show is held in the H. H. Hall building in Vancouver. This unique venue provides an interesting way to view the quilts.
Clark County Fair
Clark County Quilter awards prizes each year to quilts entered at the fair. In addition we set up a table and provide volunteers to help educate visitors.
The committee picks an annual theme and establishes guidelines for construction of a quilt. They are displayed at our annual quilt show where attendees vote for their favorite. The top three quilts are awarded prizes at the May General Meeting.
The chairperson picks a secret pattern. Those participating receive directions for part of the quilt each month at CCQ's General Meeting. Completed, or at least partially completed quilts are brought to the year's closing meeting for display. It is always exciting to see how much variey the "mystery" creates.
This committee focuses on taking quilting out to the community. Assignments might include a trunk show exhibiting quilts to a senior citizen group, teaching school kids how to sew a quilt top, or creating an exhibit for the library or an art show.
