About Us

40+ Years of Quilting

Clark County Quilters, a 501c(3), was established in June 1974, by a group of eight quilting women. Anyone with an interest in quilting could join. Since that first meeting the guild has grown to a membership of about 500, and includes men, women, and youth who share their love of learning, teaching, making, and sharing quilts. Over the years CCQ has become a force in community service, providing hundreds of comfort quilts and thousands of dollars to agencies of Southwest Washington.

Other CCQ member activities may be included at the meeting such as:

  • Auction - each year we hold a live and/or silent auction with proceeds going to charity. The auction is open to the public and features both quilt related and non-quilt related items and services.
  • Block Contest - members create a block featuring the designated theme. The blocks are displayed, and attendees vote, at the annual Quilt Show to select a winning block. The winning design is used for the CCQ pin the next year. The blocks are used to create the future Opportunity Quilt.
  • Opportunity Quilt - a quilt crafted from the Block Contest blocks is raffled each year. Tickets are sold at various venues thruout the year. All proceeds going to a charity selected by the guild members at a General Meeting.
  • Quilt Challenge – The annual theme may be introduced. Participants make quilts using specific guidelines: theme, size, and/or fabrics. Voting for winners happens at our annual quilt show.
  • Mystery Quilt – each month participants receive directions for making part of the mystery quilt. Finished quilts are normally displayed at the June meeting.
  • Show and Tell – at the end of each meeting members are invited to show off their recent work. Many members stay for this inspirational ending to a fun evening.
  • Comfort Quilts – members make lovely quilts and throws from donated fabrics and services. The finished quilts are given to programs within our area that help children, teens, and adults in need. At the meeting kits are available for volunteers to pick up and complete.  Finished projects are handed in.

Other Member Activities

Membership includes the opportunity to participate in other educational and fun activites including:

  • Retreats - each fall and spring we offer a retreat to our members. Retreats are a time for members to quilt “without distraction” if they so choose. Each retreat also offers a variety of classes, activities, and field trips for attendees. Housing and food is great! A retreat is a wonderful way to “getaway from it all” and be with like-minded friends in a beautiful setting.
  • Saturday Workshops - mid-year, we organize a one-day, super Saturday, group of workshops and classes that our members have requested/recommended. These activities are taught by members for members.
  • New Member Teas - periodically we offer New Member Teas to introduce all that the guild has to offer to our new members. It provides a time for current and new members to meet each other.
  • Small Groups - guild members have formed many small groups. They often are open with space for someone new to join. These small groups set their own meeting times and activities. It’s a great way to make friends and share techniques and help each other.
